Meet Frances Kaplan
I have a passion for strong-willed and rebellious children and offer comprehensive psychoeducational assessments, therapy and career counselling.
I completed my Masters in Educational Psychology at the University of Johannesburg, a BPsych Honours, specialisation in trauma, at Midrand Graduate Institute and I earned my BA in Social Sciences through UNISA. I have also completed numerous continuous professional development courses over the years that have all aided in my growth as a psychologist.
I spent the first 5 years of my career working in special education with intellectually disabled learners as a school counsellor. I moved on to work at St. Stithians Girls’ College. Today, I run my own successful private practice in Pretoria.
“Life is not what it’s supposed to be. It’s what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.” – Virginia Satir
Depending on the nature of your therapy needs, I will use a variety of ways to help your family triumph. I do not prescribe to one method of therapy as I believe that we are all different, and no one method will be effective
for everyone. I offer traditional ‘talk therapy’, as well as play therapy, which includes art, sand, games and movement-based modalities. We can discuss which you feel may be a good fit for your child.
Frances Kaplan is an educational psychologist who has a passion for children and working with their families.
